Valencia County’s mosquito control services have been restored by the county in its final budget for the new fiscal year.

Public outcry put pressure on commissioners to restore the county’s mosquito control program, which had all of its funding cut by the commission during budget discussions in May.

Last month, commissioners promised to look for funding but didn’t guarantee the county would find it.

Wilma Abril, the county’s budget director, said the funding has been restored.

The budget now includes $8,964 for mosquito control, down from approximately $13,500 in previous years.
